Here at GCR Logistics we have a great amount of experience in the packing and shipping of art and purchases from auction houses. Over the years our team of professionals have packed and shipped several hundred pieces of art which has led us to become experts when it comes to logistics in the art industry. With this experience and knowledge, we will be able to help you get your purchase to its new home and consult on how it should be packed.
How does it work?
When you place a request with us we need to receive a few details beforehand:
- Pickup location
- Delivery address (zip code, city and country at minimum)
- What you have purchased, if possible with approximate dimensions and/or link to the purchased lots
- The total value of your purchase
Afterwards we will get back to you with our obligation free quote in which we will specify how we intend to ship it and how long the entire process will take approximately. In our quote you will also find the charges for our additional all-risk insurance. Once our quote has been approved and payment has been received we will proceed with the packing and shipping process as quoted.
Paintings
We offer multiple solutions for packing paintings. The first of which is an industrial grade, wooden crate made from fumigated wood (this ensures that our crates are able to be imported all over the world). Perfect for valuable paintings and those wanting maximum protection for their painting. Because all of our crates are industrial grade quality you will be able to reuse them if you decide to sell the painting at a later point in time.
The second solution we offer for packing paintings are custom made, double walled cardboard boxes. These boxes can be reenforced with honeycomb carboard to increase their strength. This solution is tailored towards those who wish to save on the packing and shipping costs of their painting(s) while maintaining a strong degree of protection.
All paintings will be wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap before they are put in a crate or cardboard box. In case it is needed we can facilitate in the removal of the painting’s frame.
Other purchases
Our packing service extends to more than just paintings. A few examples of what we have packed in the past include bronze cannons, swords, ceramics and glassworks. For every kind of purchase, we will have a solution to make sure it arrives safely to your doorstep.
Below you will find an overview of materials and sorts of packaging we use:
- Industrial grade wooden crates made from fumigated wood
- Double walled cardboard boxes
- Honeycomb cardboard
- Tempex (styrofoam) boxes, for additional protection from the outside
- Sealed Air InstaPak (foam that forms to the shape of the object)
- Bubble wrap
Shipping
Once an art piece has been packed, we will proceed with shipping. We will do so through either UPS, FedEx or DHL. We will monitor your shipment while it's on its way up until the point it gets delivered. Once your purchase has been shipped you will receive the tracking number of your shipment so you also will be able to keep track of it.
